In June, while doing my routine credit report check, I found a deceased indicator and an account that was fully paid off in 2013, and should not be reported anymore. I know that I can dispute this directly with the credit reporting agency but I'm wondering if this process requires legal help or if it's something I can manage on my own without involving an attorney?

First of all, read this guide, it might be useful for you https://consumerattorneys.com/article/equifax-deceased-alert-mistakenly-reported. You can deal with the disputing process alone, but professional support might make the process much easier and faster. Sometimes it happens that the credit reporting companys do no correct the errors immediately and you need yo start a lawsuit against them. In case you decide to sue the company, you’ll definitely need an attorney.
